100 yard dash - free crochet scarf pattern

Materials required:

Approx 100 yards / 90ish metres 8ply DK yarn
5mm crochet hook
tube /dowel (I used the tube from an empty roll of cling wrap)

What to do:

Row 1: ch 182
Row 2: hdc in 3rd ch from hook, hdc across
Row 3: DO NOT CH, DO NOT TURN!! Draw up loop and slip over tube, insert hook into next stitch to the right, draw up a loop and slip it over the tube. Continue drawing up loops of yarn through each successive stitch across the work.
Row 4: Remove tube from loops (this is the fun bit!). Form a slip stitch around the top of the first 4 loops (we're working from left to right again now). Hdc x 4 in these loops. Pick up the next 4 loops and hdc x 4 in these loops. Continue in this manner across the work. Turn.
Row 5: ch 1, sc across work. Turn.
Row 6: *sl st, (sc, ch) in next st, sc, sl st** .... repeat from * to ** across work.
Weave in ends and you're done!

This tutorial for broomstick lace may be helpful for working row 3 :)
